Sparky: 2012 MLB Predictions

American League

East
1.       NY Yankees- Adding Kuroda, Pettitte and trading Burnett helps win the division
2.       Boston- Can Ellsbury put up same numbers as last year? Will Crawford be better than last year when he returns from injury? Closer role is a huge question mark with Bailey injury
3.       Tampa Bay- Solid pitching, but can they score enough runs?
4.       Toronto- Do you believe in their outfield? I don’t.
5.       Baltimore- Will be better than people think but this division is just too tough

Central
1.       Detroit- Most talent in the division. To be special, Porcello and Austin Jackson must be much better. Valverde needs to be healthy.
2.       Kansas City- The young core of positional players will need to carry the questionable starting pitching .
3.       White Sox- Looks like they are going with a youth movement concerning players. Anybody have any idea why Robin Ventura is the manager?
4.       Cleveland- This team is a mess, I don’t think they know if they are rebuilding or trying to win now. Anybody seen Matt LaPorta?
5.       Minnesota- Love Joe Mauer. Love Ron Gardenhire. Don’t like much else with this roster, unless Liriano rebounds then I like him too.

West
1.       Anaheim- You add Pujols and CJ Wilson. You add another division banner.
2.       Texas- Love their offense. I question how Darvish and Feliz will do in the rotation.
3.       Oakland- A bunch of young guys who will be fun to watch develop at the plate.
4.       Seattle-Waiting for farm hands to be ready to help MLB club.

National League

East
1.       Philadelphia- I believe they can survive until Utley and Howard return from injury.
2.       Atlanta- To win this division, Freeman and Howard must step up their game.
3.       Miami- Too many distractions… Ozzie Guillen, Hanley Ramirez, Carlos Zambrano
4.       Washington- They need Harper to be recalled and produce instant offense…which Edwin Jackson will show up in D.C.?
5.       Mets- Would anybody realize if they just didn’t play this year? (Outside of ESPN)
Central
1.       Cincinnati- Will pitching staff be consistent enough to win division? Dusty Baker is best manager in division.
2.       St. Louis- If Carpenter is back in his form by June, they could win a tight three team division race.
3.       Milwaukee- How will Braun handle this season? Can Mat Gamel and Aramis Ramirez produce enough offense to take pressure off Braun and Weeks? Will the bench be as clutch as last year?
4.       Chicago- Good luck Dale.
5.       Pittsburgh- If Pedro Alvarez doesn’t produce more like people have expected out of him, this team is set back years.

West
1.       San Francisco- Pitching is excellent. Offense is improved. Get their World Series rings ready.
2.       LA Dodgers- New owners bring new enthusiasm to a franchise that needed it.  Not a fan of their infield.
3.       Arizona- I think last year was their “catch lightning in a bottle” year. Not sold on that offense.
4.       Colorado- That pitching staff scares me, starters and bullpen.
5.       San Diego- Probably the worst lineup in baseball.

World Series
San Francisco over Anaheim

Awards
AL MVP-  Albert Pujols (ANA)
AL Cy Young- Justin Verlander (DET)
NL MVP- Joey Votto (CIN)
NL Cy Young- Tim Lincecum (SF)

Giants are a joke
Giants really? No offense dead last in runs. I don't see it. It's Heyword for the braves not Howard. I don't think the red sox or the giants will even make the playoffs. But I will not disagree with any of your other picks.
